As a Card Fraud Specialist you will be responsible for uncovering and preventing card fraud trends as well as investigating fraud cases. This will be an end to end process from initial customer communication through to potential arbitration/compliance stage.


  • Conducting card fraud investigations, complying with MasterCard rules and relevant regulators such as the FCA.
  • Creating and maintaining Chargeback disputes through MasterCard Connect in line with timeframes, regulations and requirements.
  • Reporting fraud in a timely manner to MasterCard’s SAFE.
  • Investigate cases to establish if there is a chargeback right.
  • Liaise with cardholders and retailers through in-app messages, incoming calls and emails.
  • Identifying the most effective dispute type to benefit the customer.
  • Open source investigation to assess potential 1st, 2nd, 3rd party fraud claims.
  • To recognise trends and report them accordingly to mitigate further fraud claims.
  • Monitoring and handling account administration, closures and insolvencies.
  • Give direction and clarity to customers ensuring a fair outcome is achieved.
  • Documenting new processes and helping to identify areas for continuous improvement.


  • Proven experience working in a chargebacks role either within a banking environment or for a merchant.
  • Understand end to end of the chargeback cycle - from first point of contact through to arbitration.
  • Have a proactive approach to the detection and prevention of Fraud.
  • Ability to manage relationships between multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a growing bank.
  • Results oriented, completing tasks in a timely manner and to a high standard.
